Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist who is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of Western classical music. He was born in Bonn in December 1770 and later moved to Vienna, where he spent most of his life. Despite the onset of deafness in his late 20s, Beethoven continued to compose music, producing many of his most celebrated works during this period.
