🐱 What does Couscous need?

Couscous’ base needs are food, water, litter box and love

🐱 Food?

Just make sure there’s usually food in her bowl. No need to feed her at regular times. If she goes without food for a few hours it’s no big deal and she’ll let you know that she’s hungry. I’ll include food, but if you run out just buy any dry food at the store, she’s easy

🐱 Water?

Same as with food, make sure there’s access to clean water somewhere. It’s a good idea to properly clean the water bowl every few days to make sure it’s perfectly clean

🐱 Litter box?

For a week or less there should be no need to change the sand. The way the litterbox works is that the poop gathers on top, and the pee stays put at the bottom. So just scoop out the top layer every other day or so and leave the bottom layer intact. Couscous is great at using her box and only pees elsewhere if it’s really dirty (not her fault)

🐱 Love?

Couscous LOVES attention. She is a little love slut and has been fortunate to grow up with loving people around her. She likes cuddles, scratches and tolerates most forms of human contact. She’ll tell you if there’s something she doesn’t like, but in general she’s very tolerant, trusting and social

🐱 What can go wrong?

Just to have it out of the way, the only things that can go really wrong is that she either escapes or eats something toxic. For preventing escapes: make sure windows and balconies are closed or protected! This is extremely important as she’s a little adventurous devil and is likely to try to explore the outside world. For toxicity: cats are allergic to raisins, chocolate and garlic. Also do check if the house plants are safe for pets and if not keep them out of reach

🐱 So she eats plants?

She loves to eat plants. Depending on her mood she’ll also try to dig up the dirt in the pots. It can be really annoying to clean but is easily prevented by adding a layer of stones sold at any plant store above the soil. It also looks fancy. I’m ofc happy to pay for this!!

🐱 What if I wanna have guests or a party?

She’s very tolerant of people and is used to strangers. Generally make sure people that are around her respect her boundaries and play with her in a non threatening way. She’ll approach if she wants to, and especially if there are many people around it’s important that she can safely retreat somewhere more quiet and cozy. As for parties, she doesn’t love loud music, but tolerates it. If there’s alcohol involved of course make sure everyone is being respectful 🤍

🐱 What are Couscous’ top skills?

Couscous is a savage huntress and will not only hunt down insects and spiders, but devour them whole. Your house will be completely free of insects when she’s around. One thing to know is that if you hear her miaowing and there’s nothing obvious wrong like food/water/litter she’s usually miaowing at a bug begging it to fly down to her so she can murder it. It never works but if you’re able to help her hunt she’ll love you forever

🐱 FIV?

Couscous has FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). It means that her immune system is weakened, and she gets sick faster if something goes wrong. It is not transferrable to humans or other animals, but can be transferred to other cats. Because of this, Couscous is an indoor cat, to limit exposure to bacteria

🐱 Eyes & Nose?

Because of her FIV, Couscous has a runny nose and a runny eye. Her right eye will usually have some discharge that turns black, and same with her nose. If you want you can wipe it off softly, but you don’t have to do anything

🐱 What about shedding?

Yes. I will groom her before handover and will include a grooming tool, which keeps the shedding to a minimum. Unfortunately it’s impossible to prevent entirely, and I’ll lend you my lint roller if you don’t have one

🐱 Where does Couscous sleep?

She usually finds her spot within the first couple of days. It’s usually on a chair or a sofa. It’s great if she can be relatively unbothered when she’s hanging out there so she can get some rest. She also loves to just hang out on the floor even if you put blankets everywhere and try to create spots for her. Just let her do her thing

🐱 How do I play with her?

I’ll include some toys but just keep in mind that she’s a huntress, so she loves anything that includes chasing. Curling up a piece of paper and throwing it across the floor is a favourite

🐱 How can I make sure Couscous has the best time ever?

❤️❤️ Honestly just love her, give her attention, play with her, and get to know her! She’s a little love monkey and when she feels comfortable with you she will talk to you, follow you around, help you do laundry and hopefully fill your house with joy. She’s a very easy cat to take care of relatively as she’s so social and easy going, so don’t be scared and just have fun! And of course ask me if there’s anything at all, big or small. I’m so grateful to have wonderful people like you in my life that enrich her life and make it possible for me to continue travelling even as a mom. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking care of her 💘
