FAQ About EDP Lisbon Marathon - The Start Line
03. How can I get to the starting line from Lisbon?
Runners can reach the starting line by their own means or use public transportation (available for free during the race day). The race organization recommends that runners stay in Lisbon and use the train to travel to the starting line at Cascais (the train station is a 1 km walk to the starting line).
The Lisbon-Cascais train line starts at Cais do Sodré and takes 40 minutes to arrive at Cascais. Besides Cais do Sodré there are several stations along the train line that runners can take towards Cascais.
From the Cais do Sodré station runners have the following departure times: 05h30, 06h00, 06h10, 06h20, 06h30, and 07h00 (check here the timetable). After 07h00 am, the trains won’t arrive in Cascais on time for the starting shot.
Runners must not wait for the last train at 07h00 am, most of the 8.000 runners will choose the train to go to Cascais, and the trains have limited capacity.
Runners that opt to use other means to reach Cascais (car, taxi, Uber...) must plan their trip so that they arrive early. There will be streets closed around the starting line, so it’s the most important to arrive early enough to reach it on time.
