FAQ About Hyundai Half Marathon - The start line
01. Where is the starting line of the 2024 Hyundai Half Marathon?
The starting line of the 2024 Hyundai Half Marathon is located in the middle of the Vasco da Gama bridge.
02. At what time should I be at the starting line?
The starting shot of the EDP Lisbon Marathon is scheduled for 10h30 am. The buses that take the runners to the starting line start at 07h30 am and 09h30 am. Aftter the 09h30 am, it's not possible to get to the starting line. The organization strongly advises the runners not to wait for the last buses, there will be thousands of runners travelling to the starting line and the buses capacity is limited. Being at the starting area early is the best way to avoid last-minute complications.
03. How can I get to the starting line?
Access to the starting line at the Vasco da Gama bridge is done exclusively through the buses provided by the organization. There is no other way to get to the start.
The buses provided by the organization are available from 07h30 am to 09h30 am. The buses start at Gare do Oriente (train station) next to Colombo Shopping Center.
To get to the Gare do Oriente the runners can use public transport for free by presenting their BIBs. Runners can use CP trains, Carris Buses, and Subway trains. There are multiple lines from Lisbon center to travel to the Gare do Oriente. Runners should plan their journey to reach the buses that depart for the bridge in time for the race start.
The organization strongly advises the runners not to wait for the last buses there will be thousands of runners traveling to the starting line and the bus's capacity is limited.
04. I'm staying south of the Vasco Gama bridge, how can I get to the start line?
Runners staying at the south margin of Tejo River have to travel to the Gare do Oriente to use the buses that take the runners to the start line. It's not possible to reach the starting line from the south.
05. What will I find at the starting area?
At the starting area, the runners will find WCs, the bag drop truck (limited to the runners that have subscribed the bag drop service at their registration), the starting boxes, and the starting line.
There are five starting boxes available: under 1h20; under 1h30; under 1h45; under 2h00; +2h30. The starting boxes were assigned according to the times registered by the runners on the registration form. VIP guests have a specific starting box available.
There will be four different pacers that runners can follow: <4:00 min/km, <4:30 min/km, <5:00 min/km and <5:30 min/km.
Q1. How can I find which starting box I am?
The starting boxes were assigned according to the times registered by the runners on the registration form. Runners can confirm their starting box by checking their registration through the race website (just need to insert their email at the "Check your registration box" on the right top of the homepage.
Q2. Can I change my starting box?
Any change to registration data is available up to a month from the race day. After this date, runners can send a message to [email protected] with his/her request, but there's no guarantee that the change its possible.
Q3. I want to break my personal best, what can I do to start in the front?
Male runners with a personal best (duly proved) under 01h10m and female runners with a personal best under 01h25m (duly proved) can ask a special BIB to start in the front. Runners must send their requests to [email protected] with a document proving the time achieved.
Q4. I forgot to pick up the safety pins, what can I do?
Runners who forgot to pick up the safety pins to attach the BIB to the t-shirt at the Seaside Sport Expo can ask a staff member if he/she has pins available. There's no guarantee that the staff has enough safety pins for all requests.
