Pharaoh Akhenaten, originally known as Amenhotep IV, was a pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt who reigned from approximately 1353–1336 BC. He is best known for his religious reform, wherein he abandoned traditional Egyptian polytheism and introduced worship centered around Aten, the sun disk.
