What was Miyamoto Musashi's early life like?
Miyamoto Musashi was born in 1584 in the Harima Province of Japan. He was the son of a martial artist and swordmaster named Shinmen Munisai. Orphaned at a young age, Musashi began training in martial arts and sword fighting as a child. He left home at around age 13 to travel and grow his skills, fighting his first duel at 13.
