Heitor Silva Costa designed the Christ the Redeemer statue project, and the French sculptor Paul Landowski realized it within 5 years. In its construction, concrete was used as construction material, and soapstone(talc) was used as a layer on it. Today, about 1 million tourists visit the monument annually.
