Why did Napoleon divorce Josephine?
Napoleon divorced Josephine mainly due to her inability to bear him a child and heir. Despite their deep affection for each other, the need for a legitimate heir to secure his dynasty was imperative for Napoleon. Consequently, in 1810, Napoleon annulled their marriage and married Marie Louise of Austria, who later bore him a son, Napoleon II.
