Where do the Stranger Things take place?
Stranger Things is set in the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana in the early 1980s. Hawkins National Laboratory ostensibly conducts scientific research for the United States Department of Energy, but secretly conducts experiments on humans in the paranormal and supernatural realms. They accidentally create a portal to an alternate universe called "Upside Down". As a result, the unaware residents of Hawkins begin to be negatively affected.
