FAQ About Discord
How do I create and manage roles in Discord?
To create and manage roles in Discord, follow these steps:
Open Discord and navigate to your server.
Click on the down arrow next to the server name at the top left of the Discord interface to open the server menu.
Select "Server Settings" from the menu. A new window will open with various server settings options.
In the left sidebar of the Server Settings window, click on "Roles." This will display the existing roles in your server.
To create a new role, click on the "+ Create Role" button. A pop-up window will appear with options to customize the role.
Customize the new role:
- Name: Enter a name for the role.
- Color: Choose a color for the role. This color will be displayed next to the member's name in the member list and when they send messages.
- Permissions: Set the role's permissions by toggling the various permissions options. You can grant or restrict access to specific server features and actions.
- Display Separately: Enable this option if you want the role to be displayed separately in the member list.
- Mentionable: Enable this option if you want the role to be mentionable using the @mention feature in Discord.
Once you've customized the role, click on the "Save Changes" button to create the role.
To assign the role to a member, go back to the "Roles" section in Server Settings. Locate the role you want to assign and click on the "+" button next to the role name. A list of server members will appear.
Check the box next to the member(s) you want to assign the role to. You can select multiple members at once.
To manage existing roles, you can click on a role's name in the "Roles" section to edit its settings, including its name, color, and permissions. You can also adjust the role's position in the role hierarchy by dragging and dropping it within the list.
To delete a role, click on the role's name in the "Roles" section, scroll down to the bottom of the role settings, and click on the "Delete Role" button. Note that deleting a role will remove it from all assigned members.
