FAQ About Discord

Setting up two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Discord account. It helps protect your account from unauthorized access by requiring an additional verification step during the login process. Here's how you can set up 2FA on Discord:

Open Discord and log in to your account.

Click on the gear icon located at the bottom left corner of the Discord interface. This will open your User Settings.

In the User Settings, click on the "My Account" tab on the left sidebar.

Scroll down until you find the "Two-Factor Authentication" section.

Click on the "Enable Two-Factor Authentication" button.

Discord will display a pop-up window explaining how 2FA works. Read the information provided.

In the pop-up window, you'll see two options for enabling 2FA:

• Authenticator App: This option allows you to use a mobile authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator or Authy, to generate time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) for verification. Choose this option if you have an authenticator app installed on your mobile device.
• SMS Text Messages: This option allows you to receive verification codes via SMS to your mobile phone. Choose this option if you prefer to receive codes via text messages.

Select the option that you prefer and follow the on-screen instructions to set up 2FA.

• If you choose the Authenticator App option, you'll need to scan the QR code displayed on the screen using your authenticator app and enter the generated code to verify the setup.
• If you choose the SMS Text Messages option, you'll need to enter your phone number, and Discord will send a verification code to that number. Enter the received code to verify the setup.

Once you've successfully completed the setup process, Discord will confirm that 2FA is enabled for your account.

From now on, whenever you log in to Discord, you'll be prompted to enter a verification code generated by your authenticator app or received via SMS, depending on the method you chose during the setup.
