FAQ About Coffee Brewing
What is the difference between light, medium, and dark roast coffee beans?
Light roast: Light roast coffee beans are roasted for a shorter amount of time than medium or dark roast beans. They have a light brown color and a slightly sour taste. Light roast beans retain more of their original flavors and acidity from the coffee fruit, and have a higher caffeine content than darker roasts.
Medium roast: Medium roast coffee beans are roasted for a slightly longer period of time than light roast beans. They have a medium brown color and a well-balanced flavor with some acidity and sweetness. Medium roast beans have a slightly lower caffeine content than light roasts.
Dark roast: Dark roast coffee beans are roasted for the longest period of time, resulting in a dark brown or almost black color. They have a smoky and bitter taste with very little acidity. Dark roast beans have the lowest caffeine content of the three due to the longer roasting time.
